A newer name
Green noise for sleep
Green noise is a mid-band slice of pink — heavy rain, a river, speech-shaped. It is a marketing name with a real filter.
What “green” means
There is no ISO green-noise standard like white. In practice it is pink or white band-passed through the middle — roughly 500 Hz to 2 kHz — so it covers speech without the hiss or the rumble.
Why it is trending
People search it because TikTok and app stores named it. The useful version is still: a steady mid wash that does not startle. Murmur’s green is that filter, not a new physics.
